Route 15 closed and detoured in both directions for
emergency drainage repairs in Lafayette, Sussex County

Trucks on Route 15 southbound advised to use Route 206 southbound

(Trenton) – Route 15 is closed and detoured in both directions for emergency drainage repairs north of Route 94 in Lafayette, Sussex County.

At approximately 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, September 1, Route 15 was closed and detoured between Mudcut Road and Morris Farm Road/Meadows Road in Lafayette. The closure and detour are necessary for emergency drainage repairs south of the Route 15 Bridge over Paulins Kill. Crews are onsite to evaluate the situation and begin repairs. The following detours will be in place until further notice:

Route 15 northbound Detour:

Motorists on Route 15 northbound will be directed to turn left onto Route 94
Turn right onto Route 206, back to Route 15

Route 15 southbound Detour:

Motorists on Route 15 southbound will be directed to turn right onto Mudcut Road, which becomes Valleyview Road
Turn left onto Route 94, back to Route 15

Trucks on Route 15 southbound are advised to use Route 206 southbound to Route 94.

Please be advised that due to a major structural issue with the bridge, the NJDOT has stopped traffic on Route 15 at Meadows Road and Mudcut Road.
As soon as further information is received about the length of time of this detour, or any other developments, it will be posted.

Pelletown Road Resurfacing
Please be advised that the portion of Pelletown Road from the Frankford border to the vicinity of Alpine Road will be resurfaced on Thursday, August 20, 2026, and Friday, August 21, 2026.
Intermittent road closures will take place during the work. Please expect delays and allow extra travel time.

A raccoon from Monroe Road has been found to be positive for rabies.
Please note, one positive raccoon does not mean every wild animal out there is positive.
DO NOT interact with wildlife. If a wild animal is acting peculiar, residents are advised to contact the NJ State Police or Animal Control (973-764-7751).
If testing is required, they will contact the health department.

Meet Miss Lafayette, Autumn Richter!!!

Autumn is entering her junior year in college and plans to earn a BS in Biology, a BS in Forensic Science, and a BA in Education before attending medical school to become an anesthesiologist. She is a member of the Omega Rho Chapter of the TriBeta Biological Honor Society and is completing emergency medical services training while pursuing her college studies. Autumn volunteers with the Lafayette EMS Squad and participates in
community service projects throughout Sussex County. She enjoys horseback riding, hiking and reading about science and medicine.
