🎻🌟 Celebrating Our 3rd Grade Strings Musicians! 🌟🎻

Today was a VERY special day in 3rd Grade Strings! We awarded our first 🎶 CONCERTMASTER 🎶 to a student who truly stood out this week!

Our Concertmaster was chosen for having an amazing attitude, showing excellent posture, working incredibly hard, and making great progress on the violin! 👏🎻

Next week, our Concertmaster will have the special job of leading our class and modeling good playing position, focus, and a “keep working hard!” attitude for their classmates. 🌟

I am SO proud of all of our 3rd graders and the progress they are making! Every week, I see them becoming more confident, more focused, and more excited to make music together. ❤️🎻

Congratulations to our Concertmaster! Keep shining and keep making beautiful music! 🎶⭐

🎻✨ 5th Grade Strings is making music happen! 🎶

Our 5th graders have been busy building their string-playing skills! This week, we’re working on strong left-hand position, learning to read notes in both treble AND bass clef 🎼, and—most importantly—learning how to play together as an ensemble! 👏🎻🎻

There are lots of moving parts when you’re learning an instrument, but our 5th grade mustangs are learning to listen, watch, adjust, and work together to create one sound. 💪🎶

We’re growing as musicians, one note (and one bow!) at a time! 🌟

Way to go, 5th Grade Strings! 🎻❤️🎵

What a wonderful night to celebrate not only the progress happening across LPSS, but some very special members of our Middlebrook family! 💙🐴

Tonight, we joined Superintendent Francis Touchet and district leaders for the LPSS State of the District, celebrating the accomplishments, growth, and incredible work happening throughout Lafayette Parish.

We were especially proud to see Middlebrook represented among those recognized for excellence! 🌟

💙 Amelia McAlister — 2025–2026 5th Grade Student of the Year
💙 Mary Graham — Teacher of the Year
💙 Gayelyn Thibeaux — Child Nutrition Manager of the Year

These three represent so much of what makes Middlebrook special—outstanding students, dedicated educators, and incredible support staff who pour into our children every single day.

Seeing our Mustangs standing alongside other outstanding students and employees from across the district was such a proud moment. Congratulations again to Amelia, Mrs. Graham, and Ms. Thibeaux! We are so incredibly proud that you represent Cpl. Michael Middlebrook Elementary Fine Arts Magnet Academy! 🐴💙✨

📚✨ Learning through PLAY in Kindergarten! ✨📚

Ms. Konikoff’s Kindergarten Mustangs are building important skills one squish, roll, and circle at a time! 💜 During Skills, students used Play-Doh to create balls, lines, and circles while strengthening the small muscles in their hands.

It may look like play, but these little hands are hard at work! 💪✏️ Activities like this help develop the fine motor strength and coordination students need for handwriting, cutting, drawing, and so much more.

And judging by those BIG smiles… they didn’t mind the practice one bit! 😍🐴💙

Imagine. Believe. Achieve.

🎻 Week 3 of Elementary Strings! 🎻

Our young string musicians are hard at work developing one of the most important skills they’ll use throughout their musical journey: a strong, comfortable bow hold! 💪🎶

This week, students are practicing how to:
🎻 Find the balance point on their bow
✋ Position their right hand correctly
🎶 Develop a relaxed and flexible bow hold
⭐ Build the muscle memory they need for beautiful, controlled playing

It may look like a small step, but learning a proper bow hold takes focus, patience, and lots of practice! Our students are learning that great musicianship starts with good habits from the very beginning.

We are so proud of the concentration and effort our beginning string players are showing in Week 3! Keep up the great work mustangs! 🌟🎻

🫁 PreK Science in Action! 🔬✨

Mrs. Ashley Minvielle’s PreK students are learning all about our bodies this week, and today’s lesson was all about our lungs!

Our little scientists put their lungs to work by blowing through straws to move cotton balls across the table. 💨 They learned that our lungs help us breathe—and discovered just how powerful their breath can be!

Hands-on learning + lots of giggles = a great day in PreK! 💙🐴

🎻🌟 Look How Much We’ve Grown Already! 🌟🎻

Our strings adventure is officially underway—and our young musicians are already making AMAZING progress! 🎶❤️

Since getting fitted for their instruments, our mustangs have been busy learning the very first steps of becoming string players! 🎻 They are learning how to properly hold their instruments, finding their balance, and getting comfortable with their new musical friends.

And the best part? WE’RE MAKING MUSIC TOGETHER! 🎶🙌

Our mustangs are beginning to play open strings as an ensemble, learning how to listen to one another, start and stop together, and make one BIG beautiful sound! 🎻🎻🎻

It may seem like a simple first step, but these are BIG accomplishments for our beginning musicians! Every squeak, scratch, and beautiful sound is part of the learning process. 😊

We are so proud of our young string players and all the hard work they are putting in! We can’t wait to see (and HEAR! 👂🎶) what they accomplish next!

Keep playing, keep learning, and keep making music! 🎻✨
