One week away 💙

Our upcoming volunteer training was full, but we recently had one spot open up. If you’ve been considering volunteering with Healing House, this may be your opportunity to step in.

Healing House volunteers help create safe, supportive spaces for children, teens, and families who are grieving, and the impact they make is felt far beyond group nights.

Training takes place June 5th and 6th, and applicants must be able to attend both days and commit to volunteering for at least one year.

Questions? Reach out anytime at 337-234-0443, [email protected] or apply through the link in our bio.

We were honored to deliver coping kits to LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Homes and spend time with Retanna Mire. These kits help provide comfort and support to children who are grieving in our community, and partnerships like this make that possible.

Looking for a meaningful summer sewing project? 🧵

Our handmade feelings dolls are placed in the free coping kits we provide to children who are grieving throughout Acadiana, and we give away more than 600 every year.

A few months ago, we shared a similar request and the response was incredible. Nearly 80 people asked for the pattern and instructions! While we did receive some dolls back, our need is ongoing and we would love to keep our supply stocked for local families.

If you sew, quilt, craft, or know someone who does, this is a simple way to make a real difference for children in our community.

The sewing pattern, instructions, and drop-off information are all linked in our bio. 😄 Even making just a few helps more than you know 💙

The photos pretty much say it all 💙

Every week, our volunteers help create spaces where children can play, connect, express themselves, and just be kids, even in the middle of grief.

Volunteer training is just a few weeks away, and we still have a few spots left to fill. If you’ve been thinking about getting involved or have questions about what volunteering looks like, we’d love to talk with you. Reach out anytime at [email protected]

A huge thank you to the UL Pre-Professional Society for their continued support of Healing House 💙

Through their Spring Raffle event, they raised an incredible $3,750 to support children, teens, and families who are grieving in our community. We are so grateful for this partnership and for the time, energy, and heart they pour into this fundraiser each year.

Your kindness and consistency mean more than you know. Thank you for choosing to support Healing House year after year.

Please join us in celebrating our May Above & Beyond Award winner, Mary Courville 🎉

Mary’s impact at Healing House is felt far beyond the hours she volunteers. She shows up with compassion, warmth, and a steady presence that helps children, caregivers, volunteers, and staff feel safe, supported, and truly seen.

As Mary’s Group Director, Sara shared:
“Mary doesn’t just volunteer her time; she gives her heart.”

Whether she’s walking alongside a caregiver during a difficult moment or offering encouragement to a fellow volunteer, Mary brings empathy, kindness, and hope into every room she enters. Her ability to create comfort and connection is something incredibly special, and the love she pours into Healing House leaves a lasting impact on so many families.

Mary, thank you for being such a light in our community. We are deeply grateful for you and all that you give to Healing House 💙

Mother’s Day can bring up a wide range of emotions, especially for children who are grieving and the people who love them.

If someone in your life is carrying grief this weekend, your presence matters more than having the perfect words. Simple, thoughtful support can make a hard day feel a little less lonely. 💖

Interested in becoming a Healing House volunteer? This is what it looks like. 💙

Showing up.
Sitting with hard moments.
Laughing, playing, creating, and making space for every feeling that comes with grief.

Our volunteers don’t have to have the perfect words. They just have to be willing to be there. And sometimes… it also looks like launching a giant bean bag across the Hurricane Room 😄

Because connection doesn’t always happen through conversation. Sometimes it happens through play, laughter, and a moment that lets a child just be a kid again.

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, this is your sign.
Our next volunteer training is June 5th and 6th.
Apply through the link in our bio.

It's time to celebrate our March and April volunteer anniversaries and recognize two volunteers who have made a meaningful impact at Healing House.

Mary Courville, 3 years
Caleb Boulet, 1 year

Through their roles as adult facilitators, Mary and Caleb create space for caregivers to share, process, and feel supported as they navigate their own grief while caring for their children.

Thank you, Mary and Caleb, for the time, presence, and care you bring to this part of our program. Your impact reaches far beyond the group room.
