This Memorial Day, Acadiana Area Human Services District pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice made possible the freedoms, safety, and communities we hold dear today.

As we gather with family and friends this weekend, we also recognize that remembrance can bring a mix of emotions like gratitude, pride, grief, and reflection. We encourage our community to hold space for one another, check in on loved ones, and remember that healing and support matter just as much as remembrance itself.

Today, we honor the fallen not only with words, but by continuing to build stronger, healthier, and more compassionate communities in their memory. ❤💙🤍

Acadiana Area extends a heartfelt thank you to St. Landry Parish School Board and Creswell Middle School for hosting the “Walk A Mile In My Shoes” event last week 👟💚

We are grateful for the opportunity to come together as a community to raise awareness about the importance of mental wellness and healthy lifestyles for our youth and families.

Physical health and mental health are deeply connected. When young people are supported emotionally, socially, AND physically, they are better equipped to succeed in school, build strong relationships, and thrive in everyday life. Healthy families create healthy communities, and events like this remind us that caring for the whole person starts early and extends throughout the entire family.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and helped make this event meaningful and impactful. Together, we can continue encouraging conversations about wellness, resilience, and support for all. ⚜️

May 13th is National Receptionist Day ❤

Today, we take a moment to recognize the incredible clerical and front desk staff across all Acadiana Area Human Services District clinics. You are often the first voice people hear and the first face they see and in those first moments, you set the tone for care, comfort, and trust.

You answer the calls, guide the questions, calm the uncertainty, and keep everything moving behind the scenes in ways that often go unnoticed but are absolutely essential.

In behavioral health, that first interaction can mean everything. And you meet it with patience, kindness, and professionalism every single day.

To our receptionists and clerical teams: thank you for your steady presence, your compassion, and the care you extend in every interaction. We see you, and we appreciate you more than words can fully express. ⚜

May 11th is National Women’s Check-Up Day 💗

This day is a reminder for women everywhere to prioritize their health; not just physically, but emotionally and mentally as well. So often, mental health gets pushed to the bottom of the list, quietly waiting behind everything and everyone else.

At Acadiana Area Human Services District, we know that true wellness means caring for the whole person. That includes making space for stress, anxiety, burnout, and emotional well-being as part of your regular check-ups - not something to address only when things feel overwhelming.

Your mental health deserves attention, care, and consistency, just like any other part of your health.

So today, we encourage you to pause and check in with yourself:
• How am I really feeling?
• When was the last time I rested?
• Do I need support, and am I giving myself permission to ask for it?

Taking care of yourself is not a luxury. It's a necessity. ⚜
