Lafayette Housing Capacity Analysis (HCA):
Help Shape Lafayette's Housing Future!

Did you know the City of Lafayette is conducting a Housing Capacity Analysis (HCA) to better understand whether we have enough land and housing opportunities to meet our community's needs over the next 20 years? While cities of our size are not required to complete this work, Lafayette is taking a proactive approach to planning for the future.

The study will evaluate available residential land, compare future housing needs against current capacity, and identify strategies that can support housing opportunities for current and future residents. The analysis is also connected to other important City planning efforts, including the Transportation System Plan and Wastewater Facility Plan.

Visit the City's Housing Capacity Analysis webpage to learn more about the project, review upcoming engagement opportunities, and find out how you can help shape Lafayette's future.

As the weather warms up and folks are spending more free time outdoors, we'd like to remind you that any improvements or repairs to the sidewalk or street require a right-of-way permit.

For those who don’t know, the right-of-way is a public easement comprised of "the full length and width of a public street or way, planned or constructed." While determining if your work is being done in the right-of-way, keep in mind that many streets in Lafayette are paved more narrowly than their designated right-of-way.

If you are unsure whether a permit is required, you can contact City Hall at (503) 864-2451 or at [email protected]. Right-of-way permits are no cost and are usually turned around on the same day. Applications can be found at the link below.
