A well-deserved congratulations to Angela Groves and Christy Madden, our newest Walker County Leadership graduates. Both are servant leaders in the truest sense, and this program is a fitting recognition of the work they already do every day for the City of LaFayette. We are fortunate to have them on our team.

Road closure information for Honeybee Festival

The Honeybee Event will be this Friday and Saturday night and we wanted to pass along some alternate routes to be able to safely navigate around the event.

All of North Main Street (highlighted in red) and side streets will be closed between the Food City Parking lot and West Main Street starting at 5:00 pm on Friday May 29, 2026 until Sunday May 31, 2026 at 8:00 am. You can use Cherokee Street and Duke Street (highlighted in yellow)to get around this road closure.

On Saturday night starting at 4:00 pm, Cherokee Street will be closed from the Food City parking lot entrance to Simmons Street until 12:00 am. Culberson Street will also be closed from Cherokee Street to Oak Street during this same time frame (highlighted in orange).

Please plan ahead to take alternate routes for these two nights! Thank you for your cooperation and we canโ€™t wait to see you there!

Happy end of Public Works Appreciation Week!

Public Works is truly the backbone of our city. From maintaining roads and keeping our rights-of-way mowed, to managing waste collection, litter cleanup, signage, and facility upkeep โ€” they do it all.

Beyond the day-to-day, our Public Works team provides the labor behind our biggest project management jobs โ€” and with all the growth and new builds we've seen these past few years, that's no small feat. Our shop department has even taken on custom work, including building signage and the walking bridge at Traverse Park.

No job is too big, too small, or too out-of-the-box for this crew. They show up with the skills, the work ethic, and โ€” maybe most importantly โ€” the attitude to match. We are so grateful for everything they do and for the future they are helping us build right here in LaFayette.

Thank you, Public Works. We see you, and we appreciate you!
