Affiliated Blind of Louisiana, Inc. was founded in 1983 as a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing special services and training to Louisiana visually-impaired, blind and deaf-blind populations. Although numerous services were provided by ABL during its early years, creation of a training center was always envisioned by the original founders. John Lemaire and others founded Affil

iated Blind of Louisiana Enterprises, Inc. ABLE was created as a fund-raising entity to help fulfill the dreams of the training center. In less than three years ABLE raised over $1 million through bingo operations.

Innivee Strategies has partnered with the Louisiana Commission for the Deaf (LCD), in collaboration with SELAHEC, to conduct a statewide DeafBlind Community Needs Assessment. The goal is to understand the lived experiences, services, gaps, and priorities of DeafBlind Louisianans so the state can build stronger, more responsive support and programming.

The survey takes about 10-15 minutes, and we have extended the deadline to June 15, 2026:

Do you have any lightly worn shoes that you’ve been wanting to clean out of your closet? Bring them to this event tomorrow at The Hut! Affiliated Blind of Louisiana is collecting lightly worn shoes, your donation will help us provide services to the blind community in Louisiana! We will be there from 10 AM to 2 PM, come by and say hi and bring us lots of shoes!
