EXCITING NEWS! Lafayette is a 2026 IDEM Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence recipient!

We’re honored to share that the City of Lafayette has received the 2026 Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence in the Greening the Government category.

Last week, City of Lafayette Climate and Resilience Manager Halee Griffey attended and and received the award at the 2026 Indiana Partners for Sustainability Annual Conference and Tradeshow in Indianapolis.

This award recognizes the City’s ongoing efforts to make our community more sustainable, from improving energy efficiency and expanding renewable energy to advancing waste reduction, sustainable transportation, urban forestry, and climate resilience.

This work is made possible through collaboration across City departments and with our many community partners. We’re proud to be part of a growing network of Indiana communities working to create healthier, more resilient, and sustainable places to live.

Thank you to everyone who continues to contribute to this work, and congratulations to fellow award recipients!🌱🌎

Honoring Our Veterans!

Mayor Roswarski had the pleasure of speaking at the 2026 Honor Flight of Greater Lafayette's Meet & Greet to Veterans and their families, sharing the history of our local Honor Flight program and the important role it plays in honoring the Veterans who served our country.

Veterans and their chaperones received important information and instructions to help ensure a successful Honor Flight which will take place on Tuesday, September 15.

We encourage our entire community to come out and welcome these deserving Veterans home to the Purdue Airport, 7:30 pm on September 15. Let’s give our Veterans the warm welcome home they may not have received when they returned from war. Wear your red, white and blue and join us in saying THANK YOU to our Veterans!

Let’s fill the airport with appreciation, patriotism, and gratitude for those who gave so much for our freedom.

In Tippecanoe County, we are reminded that in the face of adversity, there will always be those who rise to the occasion, ready to lend a hand.

Today Mayor Roswarski joined local leaders, first responders, service members, and members of the community at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds for a heartfelt ceremony dedicated to the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. Together, we honored the heroes, the first responders, and every soul affected by that tragic day.

The ceremony included the presentation of colors, singing of our national anthem, an invocation, remarks by local leaders honoring each of the attacks that day, laying of white roses on a piece of steel beam from ground zero, a 21-gun salute, and Taps. Thank you to all who made this meaningful event possible.

Today, we pause to remember and recognize the lives forever changed on September 11, 2001. We pay tribute to the 2,977 individuals who perished that day and the countless heroes who stepped forward to help in the aftermath, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice.

Today’s program offered a powerful moment of unity and reflection, reminding us of the strength we find in coming together during difficult times.
