As temperatures rise, remember to keep your pets safe by:
๐Ÿ’ง Providing plenty of fresh water
๐ŸŒณ Limiting outdoor activity during peak heat hours
๐Ÿถ Avoiding hot pavement that can burn paws
๐Ÿš— Never leaving pets unattended in vehicles
๐Ÿ  Making sure pets have access to shade or air conditioning

Parish:
๐Ÿ”น A vacancy exists on the Industrial Development Board for the remainder of a six-year term which expires January 31, 2028.

City:
๐Ÿ”น Five (5) vacancies exist on the Transportation Policy Committee (the governing board for the Metropolitan Planning Organization) effective immediately. Applicants must be either 1) local elected officials, 2) officials of public agencies that administer or operate major modes of transportation in the metropolitan area, including representation by providers of public transportation.
๐Ÿ”นA vacancy will exist on the Downtown Management Committee for a three-year term effective July 1, 2026. Applicants must own property or work in downtown Lafayette.

Individuals wishing to submit a resume for the above volunteer vacancies must be a registered voter and a resident of Lafayette Parish. Yearly ethics training for all appointees is required as is financial disclosure under certain circumstances.

Beginning Monday, June 8, the southeast bound travel lane in the 900 block of Roselawn Boulevard will be closed through June 16, 2026.

Crews will be performing utility infrastructure work within the roadway as part of the ongoing construction project at L.J. Alleman Middle School.

Motorists should expect detours via Reed Drive, Woodvale Avenue, and W. Bayou Parkway and are encouraged to plan ahead and follow posted signage for a safe commute.

Local access will be maintained throughout the project.

Join Lafayette Parish OHSEP and community partners for a FREE Shelter Operations & Trauma-Informed Care Training on Saturday, June 6 at the George Dupuis Recreation Center.

Participants will learn:

๐Ÿ”น Trauma-informed care techniques
๐Ÿ”น Hands-on shelter simulation experience

This training is open to volunteers, nonprofits, church groups, first responders, local leaders, and anyone ready to support their community during times of crisis.

After reviewing recent roadway projects and listening to residents, business owners, and transportation professionals, Monique Blanco Boulet Lafayette Parish Mayor-President is directing a reset in how Lafayette Consolidated Government approaches the planning and design of urban roadways.

This renewed approach will prioritize safety, functionality, accessibility, business access, and long-term mobility while continuing investments in revitalization projects throughout Lafayette.

The administration is currently evaluating the University Corridor project and reexamining development standards associated with the Bertrand Revitalization Project to ensure infrastructure improvements work for residents, businesses, and the community as a whole.
