CASA of SoLA (South Louisiana) A powerful voice for abused and neglected children in foster care within Lafayette, Acadia and Vermilion.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are community based volunteers who provide a voice for abused and neglected children. CASA advocates serve children who have been removed from their homes and placed in foster care. Judges refer the cases of child abuse and neglect to CASA so that one volunteer can be the voice for that abused or neglected child. CASA volunteers consistently conduct at least monthly in person visitation with the child. The CASA advocate's relationship with the child is based on consistency and the advocate ensures that the child is receiving the support and attention he or she needs while in foster care.

The Storybook Soirée was truly a night to remember! Together, we stepped into a wonderful world filled with courageous heroes, epic performances, and community spirit—all while helping turn the page toward brighter futures for children and families across Acadiana.

Not done thinking about Storybook Soirée? Neither are we!

One of the most meaningful parts of the evening was celebrating two incredible community members who have dedicated years to supporting the missions of United Way of Acadiana and CASA of SoLA. UWA was honored to recognize Angela Morrison as our Community Champion, while CASA of SoLA proudly presented Ellen Deaton with Advocate of the Year—two well-deserved honors for two remarkable members of our community.

We’re also grateful to our Master of Ceremonies, Kenneth Boudreaux, and UWA Chairman of the Board, Rob Tasman, for being part of such a memorable evening. Thank you to everyone who continues to show up, champion the mission, and help us write brighter stories for children and families across Acadiana.
