📢📢New Community Outreach Request Tool Connects Concerned Residents with Local Outreach Teams 📢📢

Lafayette, LA – The Acadiana Regional Coalition on Homelessness & Housing (ARCH), in partnership with local agencies and community partners, has launched a new online tool that allows residents to request outreach support for individuals who may be experiencing homelessness.

The Community Concern Outreach Request Portal provides a simple way for community members to share concerns while ensuring that information is directed to trained outreach teams working across the region.

“This tool gives people a constructive way to respond when they’re concerned about someone,” said Elsa Dimitriadis, Executive Director of ARCH. “Instead of feeling like there’s nothing they can do, they can help connect that person to outreach workers who are equipped to engage and offer support.”

Submissions are reviewed and shared with outreach providers, who use the information to prioritize engagement, assess needs, and connect individuals to available services and housing resources.

ARCH emphasizes that the tool is not an emergency response system and does not guarantee immediate action or removal of individuals.

“Outreach is about building trust and offering pathways to services and housing,” Dimitriadis added. “This is one way the community can support that work in a thoughtful and coordinated way.”

📌The tool is available at: archacadiana.org/outreach-request

Community members are encouraged to use the tool when they are concerned about someone’s well-being, particularly during extreme weather or when individuals appear to need additional support. During times of extreme weather, the tool will also include up to the minute shelter and preparedness information.

We didn't do this alone.

ARCH is not an organization that regularly mobilizes large groups of volunteers. We are, by nature, a little scrappy – the kind of team that just figures it out. Which is why Saturday felt so different, and so meaningful.

To everyone who showed up to work our first ShareHouse Spring Cleaning Day and our pay-what-you-can garage sale – thank you. Truly.

What you helped us do is something we have been thinking about for nearly six years: we cleared out the entire warehouse. We reorganized it into permanent zones – for emergency shelter storage and for household goods. We made room for a dozen additional beds, more furniture, more essentials - so that households can more efficiently move into something that feels like home.

And somehow, we did it with laughter – the kind that happens when people are quite literally climbing over one another to fill a giant dumpster.

I also want to say this clearly: the items we discarded on Saturday were broken or no longer usable. The items included in the sale were things we have not been able to pass along to households for several years. The heart of ShareHouse remains the same – getting gently used items into the hands of people who need them. And every dollar raised goes directly back into ShareHouse operations, helping us continue that work.

Thank you for showing up, for trusting us, and for being part of this work in whatever way you could. As we begin to step a little more intentionally into volunteer mobilization, we hope you’ll keep an eye out for future opportunities to be part of ARCH. Days like Saturday make it possible for us to grow.

Sincerely,
Elsa Dimitriadis

So proud and impressed by the work that they've been doing for 40 years and continue to do each and every day, and grateful to partner in the work to end homelessness and housing instability in Acadiana.
