Since its inception in April 1990, the mission of the Lafayette International Center has been to foster an increase in international commerce and tourism in the Lafayette area. The Lafayette International Center (also known as Le Centre International de Lafayette or El Centro International de Lafayette) is the international division of Lafayette Consolidated Government. It is supported by an advisory board incorporated as a non-profit organization called the Lafayette International Center Foundation. VISION: Our vision is for the Lafayette area to be the most globally engaged region in the USA. MISSION: To facilitate global awareness and engagement in our community and region. Goals:
1- Enhance Lafayette’s global reputation and vibrancy through more international opportunities for the Lafayette City-Parish government, business community and citizenry.
2- Strengthen our community by promoting our culture and heritage.
3- Increase global knowledge and international trade and talent opportunities. OBJECTIVES:
Offer cost effective programs and events to educate businesses on import-export critical aspects: Export seminars, webinars, workshops and other public awareness activities. Connect businesses with federal and state agencies’ international trade services. Identify new markets and trade opportunities, provide one-on-one export counseling and export financing referrals, essentially in conjunction with the US Export Assistance Center of New Orleans
Organize incoming and outgoing trade missions and participate in trade shows
Pursue and enhance international education programs and related opportunities with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the South Louisiana Community College. Attract and support international meetings and conventions and develop cultural tourism and eco-tourism in Acadiana. Facilitate recruitment of international talent to improve our creative class in all sectors, including business and art. Facilitate sister-city relations for Lafayette and other Acadiana towns. Provide translation assistance and referrals. Depuis sa création en avril 1990, la mission du Centre International de Lafayette a été de développer le commerce et le tourisme au niveau international dans la région de Lafayette. Egalement connu sous le nom de Lafayette International Center, le Centre est le service international du gouvernement de la ville et paroisse civile de Lafayette. Il peut compter sur le soutien d’un comité consultatif, organisé sous la forme d’un organisme à but non lucratif, appelé Lafayette International Center Foundation. VISION : faire de Lafayette une des régions les plus ouvertes sur le monde aux États-Unis. MISSION : sensibiliser et orienter la population locale et régionale vers l’étranger. BUTS :
1 - renforcer la réputation et le dynamisme de Lafayette sur la scène mondiale par le développement de projets internationaux pour l’administration municipale, les entreprises et la population de Lafayette.
2 – développer le potentiel de la région par la promotion de sa culture et de son patrimoine.
3 – augmenter la conscience globale et les occasions d’échanges internationaux. OBJECTIFS :
Proposer des programmes et des événements efficaces afin d’informer les entreprises sur les aspects cruciaux de l’import-export : séminaires, webinaires, ateliers et autres activités de sensibilisation du public. Mettre en relation les entreprises et les agences fédérales ou d’état en charge du commerce international. Identifier de nouveaux marchés et de nouveaux débouchés commerciaux, fournir un service de conseil sur mesure pour les exportations et aides financières, essentiellement en conjonction avec l’Agence Fédérale d’Assistance à l’Exportation de la Nouvelle-Orléans. Organiser des missions commerciales à l’étranger et des missions étrangères en Louisiane, participer à des salons et des expositions commerciales. Soutenir le développement de programmes d'éducation internationale et les accords interuniversitaires de l’université et du collège professionnel de Lafayette. Attirer et soutenir les conventions et les réunions internationales et développer le tourisme culturel et l’écotourisme dans la région de l’Acadiana. Faciliter le recrutement de ressources humaines de l’étranger afin d'améliorer notre créativité dans tous les secteurs, y compris celui des arts et des entreprises. Soutenir les échanges entre villes jumelées de Lafayette et d’autres municipalités de la région de l’Acadiana. Fournir assistance et références dans le domaine de la traduction et interprétation. Much gratitude to Charles Kergaravat, who has volunteered his time through Breizh Amerika to help build meaningful and lasting connections between Lafayette, Louisiana, and Brittany, France. Through music, culture, tourism, and community exchange, his efforts have played a tremendous role in strengthening international relationships and creating opportunities that continue to benefit our region.
