After careful consideration and extensive discussion, the Board of Directors of the Latino Center for Wellness and Education (LCWE) has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 Tippecanoe Latino Festival, originally scheduled for Saturday, September 12th.

The Tippecanoe Latino Festival has long been a celebration of Latino culture, community, and togetherness. We know how much this event means to our community, and this decision was not made lightly. In recent days we have been closely monitoring developments affecting Latino communities and families across Indiana. These circumstances have led us to carefully consider what is best for our community and everyone who helps make this event possible.

We are deeply saddened that we will not be able to gather with our community this year. However, the safety and well-being of our community, participating partners, volunteers, and attendees must remain our priority.

Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and trust in LCWE. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has volunteered, sponsored, participated, attended, and helped us build this celebration over the years.

While we may not be gathering for the festival this year, our commitment to our community remains stronger than ever. We will continue to share resources and find ways to support, connect with, and uplift our communities.

Después de una cuidadosa consideración y extensas conversaciones, la Junta Directiva del Latino Center for Wellness and Education (LCWE) ha tomado la difícil decisión de cancelar el Festival Latino de Tippecanoe 2026, originalmente programado para el sábado 12 de septiembre.

El Festival Latino de Tippecanoe ha sido durante mucho tiempo una celebración de la cultura, la comunidad y la unión de nuestra comunidad latina. Sabemos lo mucho que este evento significa para nuestra comunidad, y esta decisión no se tomó a la ligera.

En los últimos días, hemos estado siguiendo de cerca los acontecimientos que afectan a las comunidades y familias latinas en todo Indiana. Estas circunstancias nos han llevado a considerar cuidadosamente qué es lo mejor para nuestra comunidad y para todas las personas que hacen posible este evento.
Nos entristece profundamente no poder reunirnos con nuestra comunidad este año. Sin embargo, la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestra comunidad, nuestros socios participantes, voluntarios y asistentes deben seguir siendo nuestra prioridad.

🌟 New Board Member Spotlight: Mariela Santos Secretary

Meet Mariela Santos, LCWE’s newly elected Secretary and a dedicated community advocate who is passionate about supporting local families and creating opportunities that make a lasting difference! ✨

🌎 From Jalisco to Lafayette: Mariela was born in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico, and grew up in Lafayette, Indiana. Now raising her own children here, she has a deep appreciation for the community and everything it has provided for her family.

🏡 Helping Families Achieve Their Dreams: Mariela works at Security Federal Savings Bank as a Mortgage Loan Originator, helping individuals and families navigate the path toward homeownership.

💡 Why LCWE? Growing up in this community inspired Mariela to give back to the place that has given so much to her and her family. She became involved to help strengthen the community, support local families, and create opportunities that can have a lasting impact.

❤️ Favorite Part of Serving: Mariela enjoys collaborating with LCWE’s talented board members, brainstorming ways to better serve the community, and connecting with local leaders and families.
