Yesterday was one of the most rewarding events I've helped with this year with the Bicentennial.

Got to meet and hang out with Mr. Shirley Guidry, a WWII veteran and hear his stories.

The French Consul came in town for the Veterans Day Parade and Celebration and they got to meet and the French consul stopped his meal with his family to go to Mr Guidry and thank him in person on behalf of the French people and to tell him how humbled he was by that generation.

Then, we got to listen to Jason Theriot give a talk about the Frenchies, the French speaking WWII vets from Louisiana, who helped the US army in Europe tremendously. If not familiar with his work, he has a podcast where he interviews many of them.

Followed by a showing of Pat Mire's film about the Frenchies called 'Mon Cher Camarade' that was so beautiful and powerful. If you've never watched it, HIGHLY recommend it.
