5th grade students traveled to Canada for a once-in-a-lifetime immersive learning experience!
Throughout their journey, students explored the rich history, culture, and natural beauty of Québec and Montréal through hands-on activities and unforgettable experiences. Even more impressive, **all tours, presentations, and conversations throughout the trip were conducted entirely in French**, allowing our students to put their language skills into practice in authentic, real-world settings!
🏃♂️ **Québec City Scavenger Hunt** – Students put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test in an Amazing Race-style adventure as they discovered important landmarks throughout the historic city.
🏰 **Martello Towers** – Students stepped back in time to learn how British soldiers trained during the War of 1812.
🍁 **Sugar Shack Experience** – They learned how maple syrup is made and even had the opportunity to create their own maple butter!

🛖 **Wendake Village** – Students toured traditional longhouses and listened to stories that deepened their understanding of Indigenous history, traditions, and ways of life.
💦 **Montmorency Falls** – Students experienced the breathtaking beauty of the highest waterfall in Canada.
⛪ **Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Basilica** – Students admired the stunning architecture, artwork, and historical significance of this beautiful landmark.
🚶♀️ **Montréal Walking Tour** – Students explored the vibrant streets of Old Montréal, including the famous Place Jacques-Cartier.
🔬 **Montréal Science Centre** – Learning came alive through interactive, hands-on exhibits that encouraged exploration and discovery.

🏛️ **Pointe-à-Callière Museum** – Students traveled through time as they explored the original settlement of Montréal in this fascinating underground archaeological museum.
This unforgettable trip allowed our students to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences while strengthening their French language proficiency, building independence, and developing a deeper appreciation for different cultures. We are incredibly proud of how they represented Myrtle Place Elementary, confidently communicating in French and embracing every opportunity to learn, explore, and grow.
💚💙 *At Myrtle Place Elementary, our French Immersion students don't just learn a language—they live it. From historic landmarks and cultural traditions to scientific discoveries and natural wonders, our Cubs truly experienced the world beyond the classroom while using French every step of the way!* 🇫🇷🌎🍁
