🚧 PUBLIC NOTICE: North Ninth Street Bridge Closures 🚧

Due to increased public interest, we are providing additional details about the upcoming North Ninth Street Bridge work.

The Tippecanoe County Highway Department has been working closely with the contractor to reduce the total time the bridge is closed as much as possible, while still completing the work safely and efficiently.

🔹 First Temporary Closure (Early June – approx. 2–4 weeks)
Beginning around June 1, the bridge will close temporarily so crews can construct a work platform underneath the structure. This platform is needed to complete utility relocation work.
Once the platform is finished, the bridge will reopen to traffic while utility work continues below.

🔹 Second Full Closure (Beginning around September 8)
The bridge will close again in early September for demolition and full reconstruction. Work will continue through the winter using cold-weather construction methods and protective enclosures to keep the project on schedule.

🗓️ Project Completion:
The bridge is expected to fully reopen by June 5, 2027.

We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this important infrastructure project. These improvements are designed to enhance long-term safety and reliability for the traveling public.

Last week was a great example of our team's commitment to professional development.

Staff were spread across multiple trainings, including the Indiana Association of Community Corrections Act Counties Conference, Motivational Interviewing Training with the Indiana Office of Court Services, and Personal Protection and Security Skills Instructor Certification with Indiana Department of Corrections.

We are proud to support opportunities like these that help our team grow their skills, strengthen our programs and better serve our community.

Community connections. Real insight.

Our Criminal Justice students recently visited Community Corrections for an inside look at the programs, services, and professionals working to support accountability and rehabilitation within our community.

Students toured the facility and met with Director Kory George to learn more about careers and responsibilities within the field.

Last week we had the opportunity to welcome students from the Greater Lafayette Career Academy Criminal Justice Program to our facility for tours and presentations focused on the field of Corrections.

The GLCA Criminal Justice Program provides high school juniors and seniors from across Tippecanoe County with hands-on learning experiences in law enforcement, criminology, courts, and corrections while also earning college credits.

The students asked great questions, were very professional, and represented their program well. Thank you, Greater Lafayette Career Academy, for visiting. We enjoyed having you all!

We are proud to recognize two of our own, Annie Bennett and Caleb Kiser, for successfully completing Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training last week!

This training challenges participants to step outside of traditional responses and focus on understanding, patience, and communication during difficult situations. Over the course of the week, they engaged in hands-on scenarios, discussions, and skill-building designed to better prepare them for real-world encounters involving individuals in crisis.

A special thank you to NAMI West Central Indiana for their role in providing and supporting this impactful training.
