🔥 Safety in Action at GLCA! 🧯

The County Safety Task Force recently met at GLCA, bringing local safety professionals together right here on our campus.

The meeting wrapped up with a hands-on fire extinguisher safety demonstration, and our Criminal Justice students had the opportunity to get involved and put those skills into practice.

Experiences like this give our students the chance to learn alongside professionals, build practical skills, and make connections between the classroom and the careers they’re preparing to enter.

Hands-on learning. Real-world skills. Career Ready. 💪

💈 Meet Rocky Young, our Barbering instructor! 💈

For Rocky, mentorship means remembering the people and experiences that helped you get where you are—and making sure you reach back to help someone else along the way.

That mindset is especially powerful in a career like barbering, where skills, knowledge, and experience are often passed from one professional to the next.

🔥 Hands-on learning in Fire & Rescue!

Our Fire & Rescue students earned their CPR and First Aid certifications! As part of their training, students practiced performing CPR as a high-performing team—learning how communication, teamwork, and quick decision-making all come together in an emergency.

These are the kinds of skills that go beyond the classroom and prepare students for real-world situations. 🚒

🌟 Meet Rosemary Cheek-Walthour!

Rosemary serves GLCA in several roles, including Partnership Coordinator, Work-Based Learning, and Social & Community Services.

For Rosemary, adaptability has been an important part of her career. She’s learned to view change as an opportunity rather than an obstacle — using it as a chance to grow, stay positive, and become better at what she does.

That willingness to adjust and keep moving forward is an important part of being Career Ready!
