Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company

At 1:08 am, the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company and our mutual aid partners responded to the 3000 block of Chestnut Street, Whitemarsh Township, for a reported house fire. Chief 29 (Schwartz) and Police arrived on location, with smoke showing from the peak of the 3-story residence. Two adult residents were quickly evacuated from the residence.

The crew from Engine 29 stretched a handline to the 3rd floor, where they located the fire in the attic. Additional lines were stretched, and ladder companies provided ventilation and overhaul support. The fire was placed under control at 2:00 am, and crews left the scene at approximately 4:00 am.

After cleaning equipment and restoring the apparatus, crews returned home in time to shower and start their Sunday!

There were two minor injuries to firefighters on scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the Whitemarsh Township Fire Marshal's Office.

Much appreciation to our mutual aid partners who assisted in the overall successful operations.
