Identifying as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, or other diverse backgrounds

As we wrap up ICAA’s Diverse Business Assistance Program, we’re proud to celebrate the impact this initiative has had across our region.

From March 2023 through December 2025, the program supported 142 local businesses throughout northern Wisconsin, strengthening entrepreneurship and expanding economic opportunity in our rural communities.

Through this work, we were able to provide $750,000 in small business grants to low income entrepreneurs, helping them start, stabilize, and grow their businesses, $50,000 went to the creation and retention of childcare to increase childcare capacity within the state of WI. We’re grateful to have served the counties of: Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Clark, Douglas, Iron, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor, and Washburn through this program.

None of this progress would have been possible without the strong partnerships that fueled the program. A heartfelt thank you to the Wisconsin Department of Administration who funded this program and to our dedicated local partners including organizations like local business development agencies, SBDC, and Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation for their commitment to making our region’s small businesses stronger.

Together, we’ve built momentum for long term economic growth, and we remain inspired by the resilience, talent, and drive of our local entrepreneurs.
