Kona Days are coming! We have one a month. Pay for the annual pass and then you don’t have to worry about paying or sending in money each month. This is definitely the way to go! Our first Kona Day is next Friday, August 28th.

If you choose to send in money, we do have for exact amounts so that students are not worried about losing any money on the way home. Costs are $3, $4, $5, or $6.

Students can wear school colors or their house shirts. Our “House” store will open in September once any new students are sorted into their school house!

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Abigail Dehmey to the Ladson Family!!

Ms. Dehmey moved to Charleston from Pennsylvania two years ago after graduating from Penn State University. She is excited to join Ladson Elementary as a Multilingual (ML) teacher. Ms. Dehmey holds a degree in K–12 ESOL as well as a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. For the past two years, she has been teaching ML students at Stall High School’s Newcomer Center, where she also currently serves as the Girls Varsity Soccer Coach.

After school, Ms. Dehmey enjoys reading and attending Spanish classes. She is passionate about supporting multilingual learners and is excited to meet her students and help them grow in confidence and strength in their English skills. She looks forward to being part of the Ladson community!

I am incredibly excited to be joining the team and to support the students and families of Ladson Elementary this year.

I have lived and taught in FOUR states over the past 6 years. Though we have had a lot of movement for my husband’s job in recent years, we are hopeful and excited to call Charleston the place where we will raise our family. I am passionate about advocating for what is best for students and look forward to continuing that work at Ladson Elementary this school year!

My name is Krystal Turner, and I am so excited to join the team as a first-grade teacher this school year. I have 10 years of experience in education and love creating a classroom where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn each day. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, traveling, and going for walks, and I have a Yorkie named Skye who keeps life fun. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you, learning from one another, and being part of such a wonderful school community. Here’s to a fantastic school year!
