Annual elections are held yearly in the month of September. This September, voters will be asked to vote for three seats on the Ladera Ranch Civic Council. The Civic Council election committee administers the Elections which are conducted by an electronic survey of Ladera Ranch residents. Candidates should reach out to the Council to file their Candidate Statements during the filing period. The Candidate Period (Candidate Statements Accepted) begins on July 15, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. and ends on August 30, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.​ All election services are provided according to the Ladera Ranch Civic Council Bylaws.

The next Election will be between September 1, 2026 and September 8, 2026, for the election of three (3) Civic Council Members.

​How do I Run for Office?

Interested Candidates are encouraged to fill out a Candidate Statement and email the Ladera Civic Council at [email protected] Potential candidates are encouraged to review eligibility requirements, previous meeting agendas, and meeting minutes to better understand the role of the civic council.

Candidate Process: The Candidate Application Period begins on July 15, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. and ends on August 30, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Candidate Statement submissions will not be accepted prior to August 1, 2026 or after the deadline.

General Municipal Election Calendar:

Candidate Statements due by: August 30, 2026, 5:00 pm

Voting Begins: September 1, 2026, 8:00 a.m.

Voting Ends: September 8, 2026, 5:00 pm

New Council Announcements (Voting Results): September 15, 2026 at our public meeting.

Candidate Qualifications: Each Council candidate and Councilmember shall be a current resident of Ladera Ranch and shall have been a resident of Ladera Ranch for a least six (6) months prior to any election. If a Councilmember relocates from Ladera Ranch, the Council may by a majority vote invite such Councilmember to serve in an ex-officio (non-voting) capacity until expiration of their elected term. Only one person per residential household may serve on the Council at a time.

Lesley Marin reports from Ladera Ranch, where hundreds of community members gathered Tuesday to voice their concerns and demand further action due to several children who have been diagnosed with a rare cancer that they believe may be due to an environmental matter.

On Friday, I sent a letter to California Department of Public Health Director and State Public Health Officer Dr. Erica Pan calling on the state to expedite its review of reported Ewing sarcoma cases in Ladera Ranch.

Ladera Ranch families deserve answers, transparency, and urgency from the state. We do not yet know what caused these cancers, but that uncertainty demands a comprehensive review of every credible factor, including possible environmental exposures, along with direct communication and the public release of the findings.
