Started the 103rd Laconia Motorcycle Week Rally with a little rain, but the Laconia Police Department is ready!

Our officers will be working throughout Bike Week to help ensure a safe and successful event for everyone visiting the Lakes Region. We need your help, too.

🚨 Even a small amount of alcohol can impact your ability to ride safely. Impaired judgment, slower reaction times, and reduced coordination can have devastating consequences.

✔️ Have a plan:
• Arrange a safe and sober ride before you start drinking
• Never let someone ride if they've been drinking
• Make sure you have a safe place to leave your motorcycle if needed
• Look out for your fellow riders

Enjoy everything Bike Week has to offer, make great memories, and get home safely.

Laconia Police Chief Matthew Canfield underscored the importance of staying sober when operating a vehicle, motorcycle or otherwise.

"Alcohol-related crashes claim the lives of several visitors each year and are the cause of many others," Canfield said. "Therefore, the Laconia Police Department takes a strong stance against driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs."

The police department will work with multiple agencies, saying that visitors should expect to see a widespread presence.

"The Laconia Police Department will be working hard to ensure the safety and security of all our residents and visitors throughout the week," Canfield said. "We'll be working with our law enforcement partners to further our mission to provide a safe and enjoyable event for all."

Laconia Motorcycle Week returns for its 103rd running, as organizers and law enforcement continue to emphasize safety before hundreds of thousands of visitors arrive.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Trevor Brinton, Officer Eric Zurface, and Officer Jasmine Sallies on reaching an important milestone in their law enforcement careers! 👏

These three officers recently completed Phase I and Phase II of their police officer training, which included a six-week in-house academy, earning their police officer certification through the NH Police Standards and Training Council (PSTC), and successfully completing a 12-week field training program.

They have now entered Phase III of their training and are assigned to regular patrol shifts as solo officers. If you see them out and about in the City of Laconia, be sure to say hello.

We are proud of their hard work and dedication, and we know they are eager to serve the City of Laconia and our community. 🚔

The Laconia Police Department was happy to stop by Lake Opechee to visit with Shawn Dudek of East Coast Watercross and event sponsor Brian from HK Powersports during the jet ski races this weekend.

Events like these bring visitors, families, and motorsports enthusiasts together to enjoy everything our community has to offer. Thank you to the organizers, sponsors, participants, and spectators for making it a safe weekend on the water. 🌊

Join the Laconia Police Department, Kiwanis Club of Laconia, and community partners on June 24 from 5:45 - 7:45pm at the Laconia Skateboard Park Parking Lot for Bicycle, Scooter & Skateboard Safety Day.

This free community event will feature:
• Helmet fittings
• Bike inspections
• Riding tips and obstacle courses
• Skateboard safety lessons with certified instructors
• Giveaways and a chance to win a bike, scooter, or skateboard

Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is strongly encouraged.

The Laconia Police Department will also be fitting new helmets for bicycles, scooters, and skateboards during the event.

Come out for an evening focused on safety, learning, and fun for riders of all ages.

Bicyclists 🚲 -- before your next ride, make sure you're equipped with the right safety gear, including a properly fitted helmet, lights, reflectors, and high-visibility clothing.

Drivers 🚗 -- bicyclists have a right to share the road. Stay alert, give riders plenty of space when passing, and watch carefully at intersections and crosswalks.

A little extra caution from everyone helps keep our roads safe for all.

On Saturday, Officer Ashley Briggs and Recruit Jasmine Sallies attended Plymouth Elementary School’s annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Event, where they were honored to receive thoughtful gift bags, cards, and artwork created by students.

The event recognized 18 law enforcement agencies from across the region, including the Laconia Police Department, and highlighted the strong connection between local law enforcement and the communities we serve.

Plymouth Elementary School has hosted this event for more than a decade, providing an opportunity for students, staff, and families to express their appreciation for those who serve in public safety.

We extend our sincere thanks to the students, teachers, staff, and community members of Plymouth Elementary School for their kindness and support. Gestures like these serve as a meaningful reminder of the positive relationships we share with our communities and the encouragement they provide to our officers each day.
