Winona Forest Recreation Association Meetings 2nd Wednesday of the month at Mannsville Fire Company. Everyone is welcome!

The goal of the Winona Forest Recreation Association page is to share information including news, events, trail conditions, etc. with WFRA members and potential members. This page is meant to communicate and engage with followers in a positive manner. To support this goal, WFRA has established the following guidelines:

🐾 ONE TRAIL. ONE COMMUNITY. ONE GREAT CAUSE. 🐾

On Sunday, October 4, runners, walkers, families, and four-legged trail companions will come together in Winona Forest for the Tails & Trails 5K Trail Run and Walk, benefiting Friends Forever Animal Rescue.

Last year, this event allowed the Winona Forest Recreation Association to donate $1,000 to Friends Forever. This year, with your help, we hope to do even more!

🏃 Run the 5K
🥾 Walk and enjoy the autumn forest
🐕 Bring your dog—or participate without one
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Choose our Family Adventure option, allowing unlimited family members to participate together for one special price

When registering for the Family Adventure, please add the optional donation. Keeping the family price affordable allows more people to participate, while those added donations help us make a greater impact for the animals Friends Forever works so hard to protect.

Congratulations to Scott Hayes, winner of the 2026 Winona Forest Backyard Ultra!

As the event moved into the 3:00 a.m. hour Scott emerged as our last runner standing.

The assist goes to Piyush Manchanda, who delivered an incredible performance in his very first backyard ultra. What a debut!
In the final moments, Scott and Piyush shook hands and spoke about meeting back in Winona Forest next year for a rematch. It was a wonderful display of the determination, respect, and camaraderie that make the backyard ultra format so special. We will certainly be looking forward to that one!

Congratulations to Scott, Piyush, and every runner who stepped to the starting line and discovered just how far they could go.

Thank you to our extraordinary volunteers who kept everyone safe, fed, timed, encouraged, and cared for through the final yard.

We hope you will join us again on August 21, 2027—whether you come back to reach another milestone, discover a new limit, or simply spend another unforgettable weekend with us in this very special atmosphere.

⚠️ Just wanted to let everyone know that we encountered someone target shooting with a r***e at the intersection of Bill’s Belly/Winona Way. The intersection was in the line of fire and no way to see the person shooting on Winona towards Wart. The man left prior to getting license plate/vehicle info. The forest rangers came and are aware. Just looking to make people aware and report it if you see something. ⚠️

🟧 While it is not hunting season yet, wearing bright colors is always a good idea! 🟧
