🚨🚨🚨HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT🚨🚨🚨

The Lacona Fire Department Inc. is excited to announce the Lacona FD Old Home Days celebration on Saturday, August 8, 2026!

Join us for a full day of community fun beginning at 1:00 PM at the firemen’s field located at 10 Maple Ave, Lacona. Parade lineup will begin at 5:00 PM at the Sandy Creek Central School high school parking lot, with the parade stepping off at 6:00 PM. Live music by Conrad & Co will follow from 7:00 PM–11:00 PM.

Food and refreshments will be available throughout the day, including sausage, hamburgers, hot dogs, clams, beer, and soda. We will also have vendors set up all day long.

🚨 FIRE ALERT 🚨

On May 21, 2026, at approximately 4:26 AM, the Lacona Fire Department Inc. was dispatched by the Oswego County 911 Center to assist with a reported structure fire in the area of County Route 41 and Dry Bridge Road in the Town of Richland, within the Pulaski Fire District.

Upon arrival, the first responding Chief confirmed a working structure fire with the residence heavily involved. Shortly thereafter, Pulaski Command requested the incident be upgraded to a second alarm, bringing additional mutual aid agencies to the scene.

Lacona responded with an engine company (13-2-1). Lacona crews operated on scene for several hours and returned to service at approximately 6:00 AM.

Tragically, one individual was located deceased inside the residence. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Agencies responding to the incident included Pulaski Fire Department, Richland Fire Department, Mexico Fire Department, Sandy Creek Fire Department, Altmar Fire Department, Parish Fire Department, Hastings Fire Department, New Haven Fire Department, the Oswego County Fire Coordinator’s Office, Oswego County Fire Investigation Team, New York State Fire Investigation Team, Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Oswego County Highway Department, Oswego County Drone Team, McFee Ambulance, and National Grid.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those affected by this tragic incident.

Happy EMS Week to all of the dedicated healthcare providers and emergency medical personnel who serve our communities each day.

At Lacona Fire Department Inc., approximately 65% of our annual call volume is EMS-related, highlighting the critical role our providers play in protecting and caring for the public. We are proud to currently have 8 EMTs, 1 Medic, 1 Paramedic, and 1 member actively enrolled in an EMT certification course.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all EMS providers for their commitment, professionalism, and service.

🚨MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT🚨

On 5/9/26 at 4:44 PM, the Lacona Fire Department Inc. was activated by the Oswego County 911 Center for a single vehicle rollover in the area of 600 County Route 15 in the Town of Boylston. 13-0-1 (Chief), 13-2-1 (Engine), and 13-7-2 (Utility) responded.

Upon arrival on scene, a pickup truck was found to be in the ditch and had struck two utility poles and a tree. The occupant(s) of the vehicle had fled on foot prior to arrival of any fire, law, or EMS units. The ambulance was cancelled while en-route due to there being no patients on scene. Lacona crews assisted law units on scene by controlling traffic while they conducted their investigation and for the tow company to safely extract the vehicle.

Other agencies who responded alongside Lacona FD were Northern Oswego County Ambulance, New York State Police, National Grid, and S&R Automotive. Lacona units returned to service at 5:47 PM.

🚨FIRE ALERT🚨

On 4/24/26 at 12:04 PM, the Lacona Fire Department Inc. was activated by the Oswego County 911 Center to respond mutual aid to Pulaski for a possible structure fire located at 83 Atkinson Rd in the Town of Richland. 13-2-1 (Engine) responded. While en-route to the scene, Pulaski Command confirmed a working residential structure fire and requested a second alarm, adding additional agencies to the incident.

Upon arrival on scene, Lacona crews deployed an attack line from Pulaski’s ladder truck (23-8-1) and conducted an interior attack extinguishing active fire. Lacona crews also conducted extensive overhaul operations once the fire was knocked down. Lacona crews returned to service at 3:32 PM.

Working alongside the Lacona Fire Department was Pulaski FD, Altmar FD, Central Square FD, Hastings FD, Mexico FD, Parish FD, Richland FD, Sandy Creek FD, Oswego County Fire Coordinator’s Office, Oswego County Fire Investigation Team, Northern Oswego County Ambulance, Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, National Grid, and Oswego County 911 Center.

On 4/15/26, members of the Lacona Fire Department Inc. set up a display at the Sandy Creek Central School to educate students on the dangers of distracted driving and driving while intoxicated. Other show cases included NOCA Ambulance, Oswego County 911, Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police and the Stop DWI Program. It was a great turnout and an amazing learning experience for the students.
