Alabama students entering grades K–8 for the 2026–2027 school year are invited to participate in the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge. As we prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, students are encouraged to explore books that highlight the nation’s history, culture, people, and spirit. A message from Governor Ivey and participation instructions are linked below.

To participate, students will:
Read six books
Track their reading using the provided log
Complete a reflection through writing or drawing, sharing what they learned about the United States.

Completed reading logs and reflections should be mailed to:

Congratulations to the 10U Lacey’s Spring boys baseball team for winning the Morgan County East Championship! They play for the overall Morgan County championship Thursday night! Good luck boys!
