The hardest part of grief isn't right afterwards, it's six-months later when the flowers are gone, the casseroles stop showing up, and people stop calling. The brain fog starts to lift, and people are left with the realization of their loss, of the empty chair starts to hit.

Have any of your friends or family lost someone they loved within the past 4-6 months? Contact them and help them feel less along and let them know you're thinking of them.

Whether there is a casket or a cremation container, the family is always able to personalize the container for their loved one inside. Surrounding your loved one with beautiful images and words of love as they go to the next part of their journey can be pretty powerful.

Ask to take the casket or cremation container home for family and friends to decorate. Persons knowing they're terminal have participated in decorating their own container.

Make a special time in the service to have family and friends come up to write on the casket or put a hand print on it, while a special song is being played.

There will always be people who are uncomfortable participating and that's okay. The more meaningful and personalized a family can make their loved one's journey, the more closure they will feel.

People cut off coaches all the time, and it doesn't seem to matter if there is a casket in the back or not. Has the common courtesy of respecting a coach been lost?

In June, 2025, we tore down the old Forest Funeral Home on Pacific Avenue. As you can see in the first few photos, it was definitely outdated and needing some help. Now, the new building is bright and more modern.
