๐จUpdate from yesterdays fatality collision๐จ
Yesterday, May 27th, 2026 at 3:26PM, officers received a call about a collision at the intersection of Pacific Ave SE and Carpenter RD SE with several involved vehicles and one vehicle into a building. Officers quickly responded to the scene and discovered that a truck, driven by a suspected impaired driver, hit a vehicle in the 7-11 parking lot on Pacific Ave. In an attempt to flee the scene of that collision, the driver drove out of the parking lot on to Pacific, hitting 2 other cars and ultimately driving in to the Reserve at Lacey building. In the process, he hit a female standing on the sidewalk outside of the building. Aid was rendered to her on scene by Lacey Fire, but sadly, she did not survive. Two other people and the suspect were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The suspect admitted to drinking earlier in the day and had his 8 year old in the vehicle (the child was not physically harmed). The suspect was booked into Thurston County Jail after being cleared at the hospital for Hit & Run, Reckless Endangerment and Vehicular Homicide.
We want to thank everyone involved for the high-level collaboration on scene yesterday. Thank you to all our responding officers, our Major Collision Team (MCT), Lacey Fire District Three, our Chaplain, Thurston County Coroner's Office , Lacey Public Works and citizens who witnessed the event and provided statements and video.
With summer beginning and graduation season upon us, it is a harsh reminder of the consequences of driving impaired. Many lives were impacted yesterday by one event that happened in a matter of seconds. Please, do not drive under the influence. We want you & your loved ones to make it home safe.
