📖 Earlier this week, patrol responded to a call about a male that had parked his vehicle and was unconscious with the vehicle running, visible drug paraphernalia and a gun on his lap. Officers responded and put a spike strip under the vehicle’s tire before attempting to wake the male. Upon waking, he accelerated and took off, popping one of his tires.
The vehicle was located at an apartment building, with items from inside the car leading away from it. The items included scales, narcotics, gloves and other items initially seen inside the car. Officers located the suspect nearby walking down the street and arrested him. He was booked in to jail for Obstructing and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. The gun was not located on him at the time of the arrest, or on the ground at the apartment building. The apartments provided us with video of the male exiting the car, dropping items, hiding, jumping the fence, falling and walking away towards the area where he was eventually arrested. Our friends from Thurston County Sheriff K9 came out to make sure the gun was not dropped or hidden along the way.
Since the gun had not been accounted for, officers applied for and were granted a search warrant for the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, they found the gun, which had no serial number - commonly referred to as a “ghost gun”, items regularly used for the sale of narcotics (scales, small baggies, etc.), co***ne, he**in, methamphetamine and over $1000 in cash. Oh and did we mention the suspect is a felon and shan’t have guns? 😒 Additional charges for Unlawful Possession of A Firearm and Untraceable Firearm Possession have been added.
