* At 314 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Sturgis,
moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

Sturgis, Angola, Bronson, Fremont, Ray, Kinderhook, Fawn River,

Hot and humid weather is expected this week. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 2pm on Tuesday until 8pm on Wednesday for northern Indiana. Peak heat indices are expected to be around 100 degrees each afternoon.

There is a slight risk of severe weather Wednesday afternoon and evening. Stay alert and be prepared.

There is a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening (3pm to 10pm EDT) across much of the area. The primary severe risks are isolated to scattered damaging wind gusts to 60 mph, isolated large hail, and an isolated tornado. Confidence in severe weather occurring is Medium. Have multiple ways to receive warnings and stay weather aware.

đźš§TRAVEL ADVISORY | NIGHTLY TOLL PLAZA CLOSURES
The Indiana Toll Road has begun overnight pavement rehabilitation and toll plaza improvements at the Howe Toll Plaza (Exit 121), with work at the Elkhart Toll Plaza (Exit 92) beginning September 2.

đź•– Work Hours: 7:00 PM - 5:00 AM ET (nightly)
📍 Howe Toll Plaza (Exit 121): August 20 - October 9
📍 Elkhart Toll Plaza (Exit 92): September 2 - October 17

During work hours, both toll plazas will be fully closed overnight for scheduled repairs and maintenance.

Additional Updates:
• Notre Dame Toll Plaza (Exit 77) nightly closures end August 28
• Angola Toll Plaza (Exit 144) nightly closures end October 9
• Eastpoint Toll Plaza lane restrictions end September 30

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution in work zones.

* Until 215 PM EDT.

* At 109 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Wakarusa to near Nappanee to near Mentone,
moving east at 70 mph.

THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS FOR THE WARNED AREA!

HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect
considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles.
Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

* Locations impacted include...
Goshen, Warsaw, Kendallville, Columbia City, Winona Lake, Ligonier,
Syracuse, Lagrange, Tri-lakes, Avilla, Albion, Churubusco, Rome
City, Topeka, North Webster, Pierceton, Millersburg, Benton, Swan,
and Etna.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

building.
