Not all rescues involve fires!

Recently, La Vergne Fire Rescue responded after homeowners heard what sounded like a kitten trapped inside a cinderblock wall. After carefully locating the kitten, firefighters worked around the electrical wiring and slowly removed portions of the wall to safely reach the tiny feline.

We're happy to report the kitten was successfully rescued and reunited with its owners!

Watch the video to see the moment our crews pulled the kitten to safety. 🐱❤️🚒

Yesterday, La Vergne Fire Rescue responded to Roy Waldron School after a strange odor was reported in the building.

Firefighters quickly investigated the area using specialized detection equipment and found no hazardous conditions. Crews also checked the rooftop mechanical equipment to ensure everything was functioning properly and found no concerns.

We are happy to report that the building was safe, and employees who remained on site were able to continue their day without issue. Thank you to the school staff for promptly reporting the concern. When it comes to safety, it's always best to have it checked out.

Photographed are personnel assigned to 41 Truck as they gained access to the roof.

Don’t be alarmed… Get Alarmed.

You may see a fire truck parked in your neighborhood over the coming days — and no, it may not be what you think. La Vergne Fire Rescue crews will be going door-to-door as part of the Tennessee Get Alarmed program, offering free smoke alarms for residents.

If firefighters knock on your door, they are there as part of this proactive life-safety program. The visits are not for an emergency, census, sales, or solicitation.

Our firefighters will:
• Be in department uniform
• May have a fire apparatus or department vehicle nearby
• Never ask for payment, banking information, or personal financial information

Can’t catch us during a neighborhood visit? You can request an alarm here:

From April 26 through May 3, 2026, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will host the annual Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters tribute, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

During this week of remembrance, our fire station will be illuminated in red as a symbol of honor, respect, and support for fallen firefighters and their families. Throughout the week, communities across the country will join together in remembrance through tributes, vigils, and ceremonies.

We invite our community to stand with us by participating. You can show your support by lighting your home in red—whether it’s a porch light, window, or outdoor display.

Together, we can ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.
