While we still have some weather risk, it looks like the worst of it went south. Praying for no significant damages for anyone today. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1ENrZUkPqK/

An update on the severe weather threat through this evening: Overall, the threat for significant severe weather (wind gusts >75 mph and strong tornadoes) has shifted farther south in the wake of this morning's storms, mainly for areas near and south of a Pontiac to Rensselaer line, with the expectation that the warm front struggles to lift much farther north than that. A severe weather threat remains across the rest of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana, however, including the potential for another round of storms this evening across northern Illinois. Have multiple ways to receive warning information today!

Looks like a first wave of storms is coming through. Stay weather aware! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1DuNWuHu3f/

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will move south and east into parts of the region this morning. Damaging wind gusts and brief, torrential rainfall are the main threats with this activity. A brief tornado can't be ruled out.

LRS, the company picking up garbage in LaSalle, told me today they will NOT take refrigerators, freezers, or air conditioners even though their website says they do and even if you pay for a pickup of these items.

Hopefully they will update their website with this info. If we learn more, we'll update you here. Since we are not an official site, I can't offer any details about their contract with the city or why they don't pick these up. The lady at LRS said she thought maybe it was to keep freon out of the landfill which sounds like a good thing if true.

It is so great the city has a podcast now! This one shares info on the electric aggregation program.

I want to lead this post by reminding everyone, we are NOT an official city of LaSalle page - we are a group of citizens who love LaSalle and like to share information about it. So in that spirit, I want to remind everyone that if you don't want to automatically be added to the new aggregation program with Direct Energy as your electric supplier you need to either send in the card opting out postmarked by June 5 or call Direct Energy (1-866-968-8065) and opt out.

A key point as you decide may be that it seems the letter from the city indicates a .1200¢ per kWh charge (at least that's how I read it), but that seemed impossible based on the charges of all the suppliers (https://plugin.illinois.gov/your-available-choices/offers.html?said=4) so I called Direct Energy and confirmed it is 12¢ per kWh which is more in line with other suppliers.

The point on this post is not to say opting in or out is best - it's just to remind everyone the deadline is this week and that the cost for electric supply from Direct Energy was told to me by them to be 12¢ per kWH. You can find more info in the letters from the city and from Ameren.

Hope everyone's summer is starting out well!
