This month, we’re continuing to highlight Zonta International’s causes, this time focusing on Education Equality, a cornerstone of our mission to empower women and girls worldwide.

🎓 Education is a human right. It has the power to save and improve lives, strengthen families and transform communities. When girls have access to education, they are more likely to lead healthy and empowered lives, breaking cycles of poverty and inequality.

Zonta International has supported women and girls in education through scholarships, fellowships and awards, providing over US$16 million to help women pursue higher education and professional excellence.

Beyond our educational programs, Zonta’s international service projects and advocacy initiatives continue to advance education as a key strategy for equality and sustainable development. Our efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all.

Jean’s family has let us know that there will be a celebration of life for Jean on Sunday, April 13, from 1-4 at the Uptown restaurant in LaSalle, IL.

The photo is of Jean and Kimberly Radek-Hall (Club Secretary and President, respectively) taking a break from researching our club’s 100-year history at the Peru Public Library ahead of our anniversary last month. We were having a blast learning about our Zonta sisters in whose footsteps we have been traveling—and sometimes chuckling about how fashions have changed.

Our Linda Hiltabrand was recognized, among four other Zontians we lost recently, at the District 6 Conference today with a yellow rose. Candles were lit in their honor that will remain lit throughout the conference in their remembrance.

With much sorrow, the Zonta Club of LaSalle-Peru Area asks your help in remembering and honoring our Linda Hiltabrand, a treasured member of our club, who passed earlier today. Linda was dedicated to Zonta International and its goals, having served on our executive board, including as club president twice, and as a district governor, and participating in countless workshops, conferences, and international conventions. Words cannot communicate how much we will miss her.
