In an emergency, a locked door can create an unnecessary delay when firefighters and EMS need to reach someone inside.

🔑 The Knox HomeBox provides Scioto Valley Fire District personnel with secure, rapid access to your home during an emergency — without having to force entry through a door or window.

The HomeBox is a residential key safe designed specifically for emergency responder access. A key to your home is secured inside, allowing authorized SVFD personnel to gain entry when you may be unable to answer the door.

Many times, we are faced with the decision to wait for a key holder or forcefully break into a home or building. If the decision is made to use forcible entry, this can cost you hundreds of dollars in damage.....

At 7pm on Wednesday September 2nd at the LaRue Municipal Building there will be a public meeting.

This emergency meeting has been scheduled to discuss a joint partnership between local villages and townships to address the public health concerns over the current mosquito population and their transmission of diseases found present in this area. Late Summer temperatures are forecast to remain above 80°

All are welcome to this public meeting. By law the only topic which will be discussed at this meeting is the aforementioned.

The Scioto Valley Fire District is accepting applications for Part-Time Firefighter/EMT/Paramedics.

At this time, we are specifically seeking individuals interested in joining one of our 6th-day rotations. This is a great opportunity for those looking for consistent, predictable part-time hours while serving our community as part of a progressive Fire/EMS organization.

🔥 What we offer:

6th-day rotation opportunities
8, 12, and 24-hour shifts
Online scheduling
Online Fire & EMS continuing education
Firefighter II, AEMT & Paramedic tuition assistance with service commitment
Holiday & holiday weekend pay
Combination Fire & EMS experience

🚑 Minimum qualifications include:

Ohio EMT certification or higher — Paramedics preferred
Ohio Firefighter I certification or higher
Valid CPR card
Valid Ohio driver's license

extending from 6 miles southeast of Kenton to near Richwood, moving
east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from Scioto Valley Fire District! 🇺🇸

Today, we proudly celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America—a remarkable milestone honoring two and a half centuries of freedom, resilience, and the enduring spirit of our nation.

As we commemorate America 250, we also recognize the generations of military members, first responders, and everyday citizens whose service and sacrifice have helped preserve the liberties we enjoy today. Their dedication reminds us that freedom is never taken for granted.

As you celebrate with family and friends, we encourage everyone to make safety part of your holiday:

🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible.
🔥 Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby if using consumer fireworks.
🚒 Never allow children to handle fireworks.
🍔 Keep grills away from homes, decks, and anything combustible.
🚗 Never drink and drive—designate a sober driver.

This achievement represents countless hours of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and dedication to serving our community. Jeff's commitment to expanding his knowledge and skills will help us continue providing high-quality emergency medical care to the residents and visitors of our district.

Today, members of Scioto Valley Fire District had the honor of attending the Memorial Day Ceremony at La Rue Cemetery as we joined our community in remembering and honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day serves as a reminder that freedom comes at a cost, and today we reflected on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave everything for our nation. We are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside veterans, families, and community members to pay tribute to our fallen heroes.

A special thank you to Chad Grote for capturing these amazing aerial photographs and helping preserve this meaningful day of remembrance.
