USCG Station Quillayute River conducted training for towing last week. These evolutions are imperative for our crews to remain mission ready. Not only does this training familiarize both the crew and coxswain on the proper procedures, but it also provides the opportunity to correct any mistakes made on the spot. When it comes to saving lives consistency is key.

Gone but never forgotten.

Today we remember the brave souls who ventured out into unforgiving seas February 12, 1997. A Coast Guard crew responded to the calls for aid from a distressed sailboat when disaster struck.

29 years later we continue to honor and remember our shipmates who gave the ultimate sacrifice and gave everything so that other may live.

BM2 David Bosley, MK3 Matthew Schlimme, and SN Clinton Miniken will never be forgotten. Their acts of heroism will always be commemorated.

Station Quillayute River crews train in realistic “person in the water” scenarios to stay ready for search and rescue and law enforcement missions. Continuous training means being prepared for anything, so when it matters most, our crews are ready to keep the maritime community safe.

Bad weather makes for good boat operators.

Heavy weather training is imperative to remain mission ready at station Quillayute River. Honing our skills in environments that push our limits as boat operators and crew members makes sure that we are able to respond in even the foulest conditions.

Bravo Zulu to all crew members involved in today’s training!
