Last night, during the City Council meeting, we proudly celebrated Heather Boznango for 10 years of dedicated service with the La Porte Police Department!

For the past decade, Heather has faithfully answered the call of public safety communications, serving our community with professionalism, dedication, and compassion. As a Dispatcher, she has played a vital role behind the scenes, being a calm and trusted voice for those in need while providing critical support to our officers in the field.

Heather has also served as a Lead Telecommunicator, taking on additional responsibilities and helping guide and support her fellow dispatchers. Her experience, dependability, and commitment have made her an invaluable part of the La Porte Police Department family.

Also recognized during last night’s City Council meeting was Officer Brett Salter, who celebrated an incredible 20 years of dedicated service with the La Porte Police Department!

Although Officer Salter was not pictured, we certainly want to recognize and celebrate this remarkable milestone.

Throughout his 20 years with LPPD, Officer Salter has served in a variety of important roles, including as a Patrol Officer, Bomb Squad Officer, and currently as a DOT Officer. His years of service reflect his versatility, dedication, and commitment to protecting and serving the La Porte community.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Brett Salter on 20 years and TCO Heather Boznango on 10 years of faithful service! We are grateful for their dedication and the many ways they have served our department and community.

***UPDATE-The case has not been closed. The parties have settled the debt with the restaurant, and they no longer want to press charges. Thanks for all of the information shared with our detectives. ***

LPPD2602313 - Theft at El Ranchero Restaurant. On the afternoon of August 12, 2026, the two individuals seen in the images visited the restaurant and had a meal. Once they were finished, both individuals exited without paying for their tab in the amount of $47.01. We are seeking assistance from the public identifying these two.
