Trash Collection Schedule Adjustment:
In observance of Labor Day, Monday, September 7 the Town Hall will be closed.

If your regular trash collection day is Monday, September 7, 2026 your trash will be picked up on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

There will be no yard waste pick up or recycling on Monday, September 7. All recycling will be picked up on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Current situation: Full sun! Good weather in La Plata for TONIGHT'S last Summer Concert, FRIDAY, AUGUST 28TH, 7 - 9 PM. Bobby McKey's Dueling Piano Bar moves to Town Hall's
outdoor stage for a FREE concert that welcomes the whole family. It's 100% requests for the talented trio of Ronnie, Dwayne and Rachel.
Parking: Handicapped parking for placards and tags only, in designated lots on La Grange Avenue and Town Hall.
General parking in lots on La Grange Avenue and in the back area of Sacred Heart Church. Signs and parking assistance on site.

Well, the time has come for the last Summer concert of 2026...Bobby McKey's Dueling Piano Bar in a Town Hall takeover, THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 28TH, 7 - 9 PM. They actually build two pianos on our outdoor stage, then have energy left to pound out an on-demand musical performance! What does that mean? The musicians take audience requests and play whatever is asked. The challenge is finding a song they actually don't know! It's an incredible, spontaneous concert that is a can't miss! Onto the food... Vendors are coming extra early & extra stocked to give you a change from the norm:

Charles County Government’s Department of Public Works is conducting a paving project on Washington Avenue between Rosewick Road and Talbot Street. Work began on August 16, 2026, and will take place between the hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The project is anticipated to be completed by September 11, 2026, weather permitting.

Traffic control measures and signage will be in place throughout the project. One lane will remain open to traffic during construction.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the work zone and should expect delays during this project's schedule.
