🚨 FRAUD ALERT 🚨

Our department is warning the community about an increase in phone and online scams targeting elderly residents. Scammers are contacting victims pretending to be financial institutions, government agencies, law enforcement, utility companies, or even family members in distress.

The suspects often pressure victims into sending money immediately through:

• Apple gift cards
• Wire transfers
• Cryptocurrency
• Payment apps

⚠️ Remember:
• Legitimate agencies will NEVER demand payment using gift cards.
• Do not provide personal or banking information over the phone or online to unknown individuals.
• Be cautious of urgent threats or requests for secrecy.
• Hang up and verify the information by contacting the organization directly using an official phone number.
• Talk to a trusted family member before sending money.

If you believe you have been targeted by a scam or have already sent money, please contact the La Palma Police Department at 714-690-3370.

Please share this message to help protect our community and senior residents.

🚨 Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention Tips 🚨

Catalytic converter thefts can happen quickly, but there are ways to help protect your vehicle:

• Park in well-lit areas or inside a garage whenever possible

• Install surveillance cameras or security systems to help
deter theft and capture suspicious activity

• Install a catalytic converter anti-theft device or shield

• Consider engraving your VIN or license plate number on the
catalytic converter

And the most important, “If you see something, say something”.

You can call the La Palma Police Department at 714-690-3370 to report suspicious activity or a crime.

Coyotes are a normal part of urban life, but keeping them wild helps keep our neighborhoods safe.

✔️ Secure trash and remove outdoor pet food
✔️ Keep small pets on leash and supervised
✔️ Never feed coyotes
✔️ If approached, be loud and make yourself appear bigger
to scare them away

Coyotes usually avoid people, but easy access to food can make them more comfortable around neighborhoods. Help keep wildlife wild and report aggressive behavior to local authorities.

with Coyotes:

Last night, Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for vehicle violations. The driver failed to yield and a vehicle pursuit ensued near Walker & Orangethorpe. The vehicle quickly gained a distance away from officers. The vehicle attempted to make a right turn onto La Palma, but lost control and collided with a traffic light signal. Upon Officers arrival, both the driver and the passenger fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, officers quickly apprehended both subjects. A search for the vehicle revealed a large NOS tank, narcotics, and a loaded firearm magazine. A firearm was later recovered in a trash enclosure where one of the subjects had tossed the firearm while fleeing.

One firearm off the streets ✅
Two in custody ✅
