Doctor Wayne True is a family physician, in practice in San Diego and La Mesa since 1988. He specializes in the complete care of the entire family. Doctor True has served in leadership roles both nationally and in San Diego County. He served as the President of the San Diego Academy of Family Physicians and served 3 years nationally on the Commission on Public Health and Scientific Affairs for the
American Academy of Family Physicians. He presently serves on the Board of the National Lipid Association. Doctor True has been married to his wife Mariellen for thirty years. Over the years many other people have considered the True home as their own. Church and family life are priorities. Doctor True has led 14 medical mission trips to the jungles and mountains of Peru. As a young doctor he made 6 trips to rural Haiti providing medical care. Doctor True set up a pilot program in Haiti which eliminated neonatal tetanus, a disease that previously took the life of 50% of all newborn babies. Before moving to San Diego, Doctor True worked through the National Health Service Corp in a rural area of Ohio where there was limited access to medical care. Doctor True has already seen firsthand the problems of the Affordable Care Act (ACA, Obamacare) and what it has caused in the lives of his patients. Many have had their insurance canceled, their premiums more than double, and sizable increases in their deductibles. As a caring doctor, he supports the goals of ACA but sees in its present form that it will not work. The ACA will not provide the kind of care that patients need and deserve. He is uniquely qualified to help present solutions in Congress. Doctor True identifies himself politically as a conservative who sees the need for a limited role of government to encourage the health of civil society. He understands the importance of enforcing the current laws on immigration including a strong defense of our national borders. He believes in a healthy and strong military. The fiscal responsibility of government is one of his most urgent priorities. In Congress, he will honorably serve the people of San Diego.
