New e-bike safety laws are now in effect in La Mesa. Riders under 12 are not allowed to operate Class 1 or Class 2 e-bikes. From June 11 through Aug. 10, 2026, officers will focus on education and awareness by issuing warnings rather than citations for violations. Citations will be issued starting Aug. 11, 2026. Violations may result in a $25 citation. Families may have the citation waived by completing an approved e-bike safety training course within 120 days. The ordinance will remain in effect through Jan. 1, 2029, unless extended by state law.

A new landmark has officially joined the heart of La Mesa ✨
Community members gathered yesterday to celebrate the unveiling of the new Downtown District Sign, a project years in the making and a testament to what can be accomplished through partnership, vision, and community pride. Located at the corner of La Mesa Boulevard and Palm Avenue, the sign serves as a welcoming gateway to our downtown and a symbol of the Village's unique character. A huge thank you to the La Mesa Village Association, the La Mesa Park & Recreation Foundation, project supporters, and everyone who helped bring this vision to life.
