Located at Orange County's northernmost corner, La Habra is 7.3 square miles with a population of 61,789 and approximately 21,000 households. A quiet residential community, it is conveniently located within an hour's drive of many beaches, mountain, and desert recreation areas. A full-service city employing over 275 people on a full-time basis, La Habra provides a full range of services, including

police protection, water and sanitation services, street maintenance, animal control, permit processing, and recreation programs. Within the City are three outstanding school districts, which combined operate eight elementary schools, three middle schools, and two public high schools. A number of private and specialty schools also exist including preschools and those for the developmentally challenged. The City continues to focus on public safety, capital improvements, economic development, customer service, and beautification. La Habra also offers a distinctive and well-rounded program of civic, recreational, social and cultural services to its residents, including 20 parks, a Children's Museum, Community Theater, Tennis Center, and diverse Community Center. Community services include senior citizen programs, recreation classes, youth and adult sports programs, facility rentals, and an active volunteer program.

Registration is now open for the 5th annual Women’s Lifeguard Prep Academy (WLPA), hosted by the and Women’s Fire League.

In this two day academy, participants will have the opportunity to learn hands-on lifesaving skills from a group of professional ocean lifeguards.

Curious about how your city works? Want to learn more about local services, programs, and how decisions are made? Join us for La Habra 101, a new 8-week community engagement program hosted by the City that gives participants an inside look at their local government!

La Habra 101 is a tool for participants to connect with their local City government staff and elected officials, and further understand their City. This program is ideal for those interested in an opportunity to engage further with their local government and gain knowledge about how their City government is organized and managed.

Classes meet on Thursday evenings, beginning April 16, from 6-8 p.m. at City Hall. Apply online by 6 p.m. on April 1, 2026. For more information, or to apply, visit www.lahabraca.gov.

The Women's FPA is open to anyone 18 years of age or older interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the responsibilities of firefighting and what it takes to join this noble profession.
