Dear La Habra Community,
Earlier this afternoon, the La Habra Police Department notified La Habra High School administration of a hazardous materials incident near 503 Cypress Street.
We remained in contact with local authorities throughout the situation, and La Habra High School was not within the affected area. We have now been informed that the emergency has been cleared and all affected areas, including nearby schools, have been released from emergency protocols.
Sonora High Schoolโs shelter-in-place order has been lifted, and Washington Middle School students were temporarily relocated to the La Habra Boys & Girls Club across the street.
As a result of the earlier emergency response, families should expect additional traffic this afternoon along Idaho Street and Highlander Avenue, between Whittier Boulevard and La Habra Avenue. We encourage LHHS students and families to avoid Idaho Street, if possible.
La Habra High School will continue its regular school-day schedule. We will remain in communication with local authorities and provide any additional updates if needed.
