Out of an abundance of caution, and for the safety of the public, our Parks Department has temporarily closed access to White Rock Park on Mode Lane. After the recent heavy rains, sections of the road are currently under water. Staff will monitor the situation and re-open the park if and when the waters have safely receded. Thank you for your understanding.

As Memorial Day travel ramps up, DPS increases patrols from May 11–25, as part of the All-American Enforcement Campaign and Operation CARE.

The focus is simple: buckle up, put the phone down and drive responsibly. Seat belts save lives, and distracted driving puts everyone at risk. Drivers are also reminded to follow Texas’ Move Over, Slow Down law to protect first responders and roadside workers.

Make smart choices behind the wheel — your safety and the safety of others depend on it.

The MS 150 bike race is this weekend, April 25th-26th

Riders from Houston will come through the east side of Fayette County via Hwy 159, to Fayetteville and to the Fairgrounds in La Grange.

Riders from Austin will come into the county on the west, coming through Wi******er on FM 153. They will also stop at the fairgrounds.

The route from Houston has a change this year due to the bridge work on FM 2145, riders will take FM 2981, then go down Post Oak Rd to Racetrack Rd, where they will then merge on to Hwy 77. Riders from Austin will also merge onto Hwy 77 from FM 153 just north of the other merge. Traffic will be heavy in the area, so please try to use alternate routes.

When the riders leave Sunday morning they will go back up Hwy 77 to Race Track Rd, to Post Oak Rd, and then follow the normal route up FM 2145 to Waldeck, then up to Carmine. Riders will eventually move out of the county via N Hinze Rd and Hwy 237.

Everyone remember to share the road!
