Please join us in honoring our nation's fallen law enforcement officers on Monday, May 11th from 7-8 PM at La Grange Baptist Church.

Every May, our country unites to pay tribute to the bravery, sacrifice, and commitment of law enforcement officers. Established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962 through a presidential proclamation, National Police Week includes Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th. This week is dedicated to commemorating officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, as well as those who continue to serve and protect our communities with unwavering dedication and courage.

Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Justin Doll on his graduation from the Academy of Police Supervision (APS) Class 105 in Richmond, KY today.

APS serves as the foundational course in leadership development for sergeants and first-line supervisors. During this program, Sgt. Doll gained valuable skills in situational leadership, constitutional and administrative law, emotional and social intelligence, change management, ethical decision-making, problem-solving, emotional survival, and public speaking as they apply to his role as a supervisor.

We place a high value on the professional development of our team, and we were excited to support Sgt. Doll in this endeavor!

Today, we pause to pay tribute to Officer Eddie Mundo Jr., who made the ultimate sacrifice on April 16, 2003. His bravery and commitment will always be remembered. We stand in solidarity with his family, friends, and the La Grange Police Department as we honor Officer Mundo's legacy.

LAGRANGE POLICE DEPARTMENT
FALLEN HERO
GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

In the early morning hours of April 16, 2003 at approximately 02:45 AM Officer Eddie Mundo Jr. had been dispatched to the scene of a domestic violence disturbance on Oakview Ave in La Grange, KY. Before arriving at the scene, the dispatcher advised Officer Mundo that the suspect, Porter, had left the scene. Officer Mundo was also given a description of the vehicle Porter was driving. It was believed Porter would be headed towards Henry County KY. Officer Mundo, in an attempt to intercept Porter, headed east on Jericho Road looking for the vehicle Porter was driving. Officer Mundo did not locate Porter’s vehicle, turned around and was headed back into town when around a sharp curve, Porter who was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics, crossed the center line striking Officer Mundo’s police cruiser head on. Officer Mundo made the ultimate sacrifice and was killed instantly in the crash. Porter left the scene on foot and was located hours later in a field about a mile from the scene of the crash.

Porter plead guilty to Manslaughter 2nd Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Operator Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs. He was sentenced to a total of 11 years and 30 days in prison.

Officer Mundo left behind his wife, their one year old son, and a grieving community.

"Thank you for your service to our community.”
