With yet another winter storm in the forecast, we are asking that everyone please not park in the street, especially in the culdesacs. It makes our job clearing the road much more difficult. For citizens that have on-street parking, ask a neighbor if you can park in their driveway instead. If your car is parked in the street, we can almost guarantee that it will be buried in snow. Unless you need a workout, or just love to shovel snow, we strongly encourage you to not park in the street.

If we get any additional snow accumulation to add to what is already on the ground, we apologize in advance, it is going to be a mess. If you don’t have to be out on the roads, please stay home.

Be safe everyone, we are dreaming of warm sunny weather here at Public Works.

Good morning! We ask everyone please do not park your vehicles on the street during inclement weather. This makes it very difficult for plow trucks and emergency responders to maneuver their vehicles during these events. Our crews will be out for the entire duration of this snow event. We will make every effort to make the roads here in LaGrange as safe as possible for travel. If you don’t absolutely need to be out, please stay off the roads.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY | Oldham County

UPDATE: The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists the closure of the KY 53/South 1st Avenue bridge over I-71 in Oldham County has been extended to Tuesday, June 18.

As part of the I-71 roadway rehabilitation project, contract crews are working to remove the existing concrete-wearing surface on the KY 53 bridge and replace it with latex overlay. This treatment will extend the structure’s lifespan and improve roadway drivability. While preparing the bridge deck, contract crews identified additional concrete repairs needed prior to applying the latex overlay. The extended closure is necessary to allow for proper concrete curing time. The KY 53/South 1st Avenue Bridge is now expected to reopen by 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18.

Motorists should continue to follow the signed detour: Start on New Moody Lane/Eden Parkway, turn right onto La Grange Parkway, then turn right again onto Commerce Parkway. Follow Commerce Parkway to Crystal Drive West to rejoin KY 53/South 1st Avenue. This detour route is applicable in both directions.

Signs notifying drivers of the extended closure and detour route are placed in the area. Motorists should adjust for increased travel times and expect delays while traveling the detour route.

The KY 53/South 1st Avenue bridge over I-71 North and South will be closed from Friday, June 7, at 7p.m., through Monday, June 17, at 6 a.m. for bridge deck overlay work as part of the I-71 rehabilitation project in Oldham County.

Expect Delays
Traffic will reduce to one lane on Northbound First Street at Intersection at 1st and Main.
Total road closure expected to occur within a few hours as repair equipment arrives.
