Dr. Margo Blevins is bringing her program, “Noch ein bisschen Deutsch: Keeping Texas German Alive,” to the library's meeting room on Thursday evening, June 18th at 6:30 p.m. In her work with the Texas German Dialect Project, she has been helping our Archives staff transcribe and translate the 1870s daybook kept by Gustav A. Heilig, who first came to Fayette County as a teacher at the Bluff School.

Dr. Blevins will talk about that project, as well as others in the Texas German Dialect Project's ongoing efforts to archive interviews, historical letters and diaries related to Texas's German-speaking past.

She will also preview the TGDP's Texas German Dictionary, exploring the question: what does Texas German food and drink vocabulary reveal about the culture and history?

Please use the after-hours door to our meeting room at the rear of the building on Franklin Street. Click on the images for more information.
