Due to the Oregon Department of Forestry reducing fire danger status to high because of recent precipitation, cooler temperatures, and sustained favorable short-term weather outlook, Morgan Lake will reopen Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Morgan Lake is normally scheduled to be open April 22 – October 31st.

Congratulations to our Summer Landscape Beautification Award winners!
🌼Residential: The Schaefers at 1506 Alder Street for their pollinator paradise.
🌼Commercial: RISE Services at 1420 Washington Avenue for their welcoming and accessible landscaping.

The purpose of the Beautification Awards Program is to recognize residential and commercial properties that add to the beauty and diversity of La Grande’s environment. Nominations for this seasonal award are made by the community, and winners are chosen by the La Grande Community Landscape and Forestry Commission and city employees. Nominations for the fall season will open September 14th.
