What a day...Today I completed 47 years at the library and when I come back to work on Monday, I'll be starting year 48. Never dreamed I'd have that opportunity, but God has blessed me and days like today made me smile a lot. Being hugged by a dinosaur is quite an experience and the adults and kids both enjoyed it. Today was the 2nd biggest party that I've had in the 47 years, the other was in the late 1980's when we had 250 people at a pool party. Today's 238 came close to breaking that record. This is the biggest block party we've had since we started doing those. It was a dream or vision, but wouldn't have been successful without a lot of help. Dino O'Dell (our entertainer) was talking to me after the show and he said he loved the feeling of community that we have here at La Cygne library and I think that's one thing I have to agree with, we have definitely become the community center not only for kids, but for our seniors and everyone in between. I'm tired tonight, but it's a happy good tired. I always wonder what the new year will bring and wonder how we can top what we've done, but our community, our volunteers, our staff and our patrons never cease to amaze me.
Thanks for an awesome 47 years of being part of the La Cygne Library Staff.

I warned you to beware of dinosaurs lurking in the library tomorrow at the block party. We hope by now that they have learned not to fight over books and learned that it's better to share a book with a friend. Most important is for you to read ALL SUMMER at the library.

It may be wet and muddy and maybe even raining tomorrow, but the show goes on. We've moved the block party inside and we have a lot of fun things for you to do in the building. Below are just some of the planned activities between 8:30 and lunch. Beware of the dinosaurs who may be lurking in the library along with you! Thanks to everyone who helped get it switched inside, and I may be missing some activities, but come on in to La Cygne Library and enjoy the fun! WE WILL NOT BE OPEN FOR REGULAR BUSINESS AT ALL ON FRIDAY. CHILDREN 5 AND UNDER MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. ENTER THE LIBRARY THROUGH THE GREAT ROOM ENTRANCE, CHECK IN AND GET YOUR BAG TO STORE YOUR GOODIES IN AND GO HAVE FUN.
