Celebrating this amazing woman Terri Deuel today! Terri stayed with the Health Department longer than she planned, to help get us going again! We will be forever grateful that she did and will miss her tremendously! Terri’s last day with us will be Wednesday, May 20th, 2026! Thanks for everything Terri!

The Health Department will have altered hours & services on Tuesday 5/19/26 and Wednesday 5/20/26, due to staff attending Immunization Conference. Phones will on and available, you can call and schedule an appointment or leave a message for the staff. Immunizations and services will not be available. Hours of operation on Tuesday and Wednesday will be from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Water samples can still be dropped off on Wednesday and will be delivered as normal. If dropped off before 9:00 am, we just ask that you place them in job box down in front of our entrance. Thank you.

The Rush County Health Department is working with Community Partners to establish several Community Gardens in the Rush County Community, starting in La Crosse. We are looking for a few items to help us get started. If anyone has any 2x8 or 2x10 treated, warped lumber, or a no good to you or your cattle 6ft or 8ft oblong stock tanks we would love to take them off your hands. We are also looking for anyone who would like to volunteer, we are always grateful for any assistance. If you are willing to help or have anything we are looking for, please give us a call at 785-222-3427.

The Health Department will be closed all day Tuesday 4/14/26 & Wednesday 4/15/26. We will attending educational classes. You may still call the office and leave a message and we will return your call as soon as we return to the office. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. DON'T FORGET Lab Fair Wednesday 4/15/26 at the Sixty-Plus Building in La Crosse and Friday 4/17/26 at the Community Building in McCracken. 6:30 am to 9:00 am both days.

***Correction*** The ad that was placed in the paper has both locations on Wednesday. This is not correct. Wednesday the lab fair is in La Crosse and Friday we will be in McCracken. Sorry for the confusion. Corrected flyer is below!

Reminder to everyone that drops off water samples that the dates for April are on alternate weeks. If you need to drop off on the first week you will have to drop off on Thursday, April 2nd. Rush County Health Department along with all other health departments will be closed due to us all attending the Governor's Conference. Any questions or concerns please give us a call.
