Father's Day is this Sunday, and for this week's Featured Friday, we asked the dads of Station 1 C-Shift two important questions:

What's your best dad joke?
What's the best part about being a dad?

***Fair warning: the dad jokes are strong with this crew.***

Now we need your help: Who had the best dad joke? And maybe more importantly... who had the worst?

A big thank you to all the fathers, father figures, and mentors who lead with patience, love, and plenty of laughter along the way. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Father's Day weekend!

For America’s veterans, fireworks can be a traumatic experience. The loud noise, explosions, crowds, and even the smell of fireworks can evoke memories of combat and trigger post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, including anxiety, stress, and nightmares. We are asking the community to please be kind, respect your neighbors, and be safe.

For this week’s Featured Friday, we’d like you to meet Firefighter McKay, or better known by his crew as “Smilie” (we think you’ll quickly see why 😉).

Beyond his endless positivity, he brings passion, professionalism, and drive to our team every day. We’re lucky to have him at the La Crosse Fire Department and excited for you to get to know him a little better.

Summer celebrations and fireworks often go hand in hand.

We're teaming up with the La Crosse Police Department and News 8 Now to share simple fireworks safety reminders throughout the season. Take a look, share with others, and help make this a safe and enjoyable summer for everyone.

The La Crosse Police Department, La Crosse Fire Department and News 8 Now are partnering to provide awareness and education on fireworks safety. You may see Public Service Announcements (PSA) on News 8 Now, and our social media sites. We encourage you to share and talk about the messages, and the importance of fireworks safety. Thank you News 8 Now for partnering to provide the PSAs. https://vimeo.com/726092565

Be Weather Aware Tomorrow (June 10)

Severe weather is possible across our area on Wednesday. While forecasts can change, now is a great time to prepare so you're ready if storms impact our community.

✅ Charge phones, tablets, and backup battery packs today
✅ Make sure weather alerts are enabled on your phone
✅ Know where you'll go if severe weather develops
✅ Check flashlights and have extra batteries available
✅ Have a plan for medications, medical equipment, or other essential needs if power is interrupted
✅ Review your household emergency plan with family members
✅ Check in with neighbors, older adults, or anyone who may need extra assistance
✅ Keep vehicles fueled and avoid waiting until the last minute to run errands

A few minutes of preparation today can make a big difference tomorrow.

For preparedness tips and emergency planning resources:
