While "Sunday morning-ing" it up this morning... I am sad to say I received a distress call from someone renting the Black River Beach Pavillions and Bathrooms for a Celebration of Life and the terrible condition they were in. The pictures do NOT tell the full impact of what I witnessed when I arrived at this once beautiful area. It is heartbreaking to have to see this, disheartening to try explaining it to the folks who want to have their event there and frustrating to have to hear from park staff what they are facing everyday. THANK YOU City of La Crosse - Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department Hayden and Cindy for responding to the S.O.S. call and Dan Trussoni for the guidance.

While out "Northside-ing" it up tonight...First, I attended a meeting on the Zoning Change at Black River Beach Community Center. Thank you to the public who came to voice their thoughts. It's interesting to hear GREAT questions. 😉 Then while I was on my way to check on the Seniors...I came across this nice fellow who needed help finding the railroad yard. While out "Districting" it up last night...I have got to say, I was disappointed in the lack of transparency around the City Administrator questions. To be clear, I have voted no TWICE on a City Administrator. My reasons are still the same. Both times I have voted no, came with an understanding that there would be a meeting or meetings to discuss this HISTORICAL MASSIVE MUNICIPAL CHANGE to our City's structure while it was not active legislation. Yet, here we are, no meeting scheduled. And the answer to a valid question as to when, was: "sooner rather than later" I am frustrated.

While out "City-ing" it up last night...First, I attended the Mayor's meeting on the homeless/unsheltered meeting. Thank you Dan Trussoni and Jay Odegaard for speaking frankly about what you and your staff are seeing day to day. The gallery was packed with folks who wanted to listen, but were disappointed that they weren't given the opportunity to be heard. Thank you to all who attended. Was anything accomplished? I will let you decide that. Second, I went to Burns Park to talk with the actual souls that are inhabiting the Park. It is sad and eye opening the stories you hear and where these humans are coming from. Third, I went to Copeland Park/Black River Beach area after hearing there isn't much of a problem there...I am not sure what metric is being used by the speaker, the problem is on the Northside and needs attention.
