Rebecca Schwarz, La Crosse City Council Member - District 10

Rebecca Schwarz, La Crosse City Council Member - District 10 I am a former representative for District 10 in La Crosse, WI, 2021-2025. This page is a touch point for happenings

A little about the Council Member Schwarz: Rebecca was born in La Crosse and grew up on a farm 20 min from downtown. Like a lot of young people, after graduating from UW-La Crosse, she moved away, first to the Twin Cities, and later to Oregon. She spent the majority of her career working in social services, for state, county, and non-profit entities, both large and small. In 2017, family, particul

arly becoming pregnant with her son, brought her and her spouse home to La Crosse. She currently works in community education and advocacy for a local non-profit. Public service has guided Rebecca every step of the way and she looks forward to serving her home community as city council member for District 10.

Tonight is my last Common Council meeting as the representative for District 10 in the City of La Crosse. I will have my last Board of Public Works meeting on Monday morning before turning in my laptop and such. It's been the best hardest job I've ever had. Some decisions are simple but many are challenging and complicated. I will miss serving our community in this role but I look forward to spending more time with my family, and there are many ways to serve. Big thanks to my spouse, Vincent, and son Charles, for being troupers the last 4 years. Jennifer Trost will be the new representative for D10 as of Tuesday, 4/15. She's a thoughtful, smart, and hard working public servant. We're in good hands.

So how does 101% voter turn out happen? Explained here!

City of La Crosse voters came out in big numbers on November 5th. Unofficial voter turnout is just over 101%.

How does that happen? Voter turnout is based on the number of registered voters going into election day and how many ballots are cast. In Wisconsin, individuals can also register on election day which plays into percentages that exceed 100%.

Going into election day, there were 28,658 registered voters in the City. There were 29,116 ballots cast and the percentage climbed up to and just over 100% because 5,592 electors registered at the polls before casting a ballot.
